How Does Onust's Extended Car Warranty Differ from Other Companies?
Onust offers the most comprehensive mechanical breakdown coverage, similar to the protection you'd receive with a new car manufacturer's factory warranty. This coverage is available for the lifetime of your vehicle and begins on the same day that you sign up. We provide a single, high-level coverage plan with clearly defined exclusions, eliminating any confusion and ensuring you know exactly what’s covered. Is My Current Auto Insurance Coverage the Same as Onust's Mechanical Breakdown Coverage?
No, auto insurance and a car warranty serve different purposes. While your auto insurance covers accidents, theft, and damage from external factors, Onust's mechanical breakdown coverage focuses specifically on paying for the repair or replacement of mechanical parts and labor due to failures not caused by accidents.
In short, auto insurance protects you from unexpected events like collisions or vandalism, whereas Onust’s coverage helps ensure your vehicle's internal systems and components are repaired or replaced when they fail, just like a manufacturer’s warranty.
Are There Age or Mileage Limits to Sign Up for to Onust's Extended Car Warranty?
Most vehicles are eligible for Onust Connect Plus if they have 125,000 miles or fewer and are no older than 10 model years. However, European, diesel, and electric vehicles must have 65,000 miles or fewer at the time of sign-up to qualify. Additionally, there are some vehicles that are ineligible for Onust's extended warranty. If you have questions about whether your vehicle qualifies, please call our Member Advocacy Center at +1 (833) 668-7848 (option 3).
How Do I know If I'll Be Covered If My Vehicle Breaks Down and Needs a Repair?
With Onust, you can have peace of mind knowing your plan comes with 24/7 Roadside Assistance for any mechanical breakdown.
Our team also believes you should have the same level of coverage as the original manufacturer provides. That's why we offer only one high level of comprehensive exclusionary coverage through our Onust Connect Plus plan. Our extended car warranty offering simply lists the components and conditions that are not covered.
If it's not listed here, it's covered:
- Audio speakers and wiring
- Starting, Lighting, Ignition (“SLI”) Battery
- Fuses and fusible links
- Body, body panels, body fasteners, chassis frame and bumpers
- Brakes, Brake Pads, Rotors
- Bright metal, trim, upholstery, carpet, insulation, and paint
- Fabric Convertible top
- Exhaust system and catalytic converter
- Glass including foggy or hazy headlight lenses
- Manual transmission clutch disc, pressure plate and throw-out bearing
- Tires, wheels, and wheel covers
- Any parts or components of a natural gas/propane fuel system.
While these are the only non-covered parts, keep in mind that mechanical failures due to pre-existing conditions are also not covered. Additionally, you are responsible for performing basic maintenance to keep your vehicle in good working condition.
Are Pre-Existing Conditions Covered?
No, pre-existing conditions are not covered. A pre-existing condition refers to any mechanical issue that existed before you signed up for the Onust Connect Plus coverage plan, including any failure or malfunction that was already present or developing at the time of enrollment. As stated in our terms and conditions, Onust reserves the right to deny any claim if we determine the mechanical failure was caused by a pre-existing condition. If a known issue is identified, Onust is not liable for repairs related to that condition.
If I Sell My Vehicle, Can I Transfer the Onust Coverage?
No, Onust benefits are not transferable to another vehicle. Onust Connect Plus is specific to the vehicle it was originally purchased for, and coverage cannot be moved or applied to a different vehicle.
What Are the Roadside Benefits?
Roadside assistance coverage is limited to $50 per occurrence for services and up to $150 for towing per vehicle. This coverage includes the following features:
- Flat Tire Assistance (replacement with spare)

These services are designed to provide peace of mind and help you get back on the road quickly in case of unexpected issues.
Can I go to Any Mechanic for Repairs?
Repairs under the Onust Connect Plus plan must be performed by a certified mechanic. Alternatively, you can choose to have repairs done at a dealership of your choice. This ensures your vehicle is serviced by qualified professionals who meet industry standards.
How Do I File a Claim?
To file a mechanical claim, your service advisor will work directly with our certified claims representatives. To initiate a claim, simply have your service advisor call +1 (833) 668-7848 (option 2), and our team will assist them through the claims process.
